otary Club of Accra Ridge donates to Mallam Atta Government Clinic

The Rotary Club of Accra-Ridge has donated wheelchairs to the Mallam Atta Government Clinic and some individual beneficiaries: Fine Lady, Naa Koshie Lamptey, and Akwele respectively.

The donation was part of a national exercise of Rotary Clubs in Ghana that had deserving beneficiaries apply for the wheelchairs given to Rotary Ghana by the Wheelchair Foundation.

The Foundation’s goal is to provide a free wheelchair to every child, and adult worldwide who needs one but has no means of acquiring one. Using the global network of Rotary Clubs, the Foundation has been able to deliver over 895,000 wheelchairs worldwide.

In his remarks, the President of the Rotary Club of Accra-Ridge, Rotarian President Joy Edem Menka stated that “when you have something good to share, those close to you come first and since there is an existing collaboration between the club and the clinic, it went without saying that the club’s attention turns to the clinic first.”

In receiving the wheelchairs, Mr. Victor Salomey, the Physician Assistant, thanked the club for the gesture and added that “we are now a family and we hope that this is not the last of the donation we will receive from you”. He promised to put the wheelchairs to good use.

The Rotary Club of Accra-Ridge is currently building a delivery unit at the Mallam Atta Government Clinic. The club found it timely to donate some of the wheelchairs to the clinic that owned only one wheelchair at the time.

The Rotary Club of Accra-Ridge is a member of Rotary International, an international service organization that brings together business, professional, and community leaders in order to provide service to others, promote integrity and advance goodwill, peace, and understanding in the world.
