Milovan Rajevac is what Black Stars need to excel – Fred Pappoe

Fred Pappoe, a former Ghana Football Association [GFA] vice president believes Milovan Rajevac will make an impact with the Black Stars.

The Serbian has returned to the West African country as the head coach of the senior national team.

Milovan has signed a one-year renewable contract with the football governing body.

During his first stint as the Ghana coach, the 67-year-old trainer led Ghana made the 2010 Africa Cup of Nation [Afcon] final and also the quarter-finals of the World Cup in South Africa.

Milovan Rajevac has been charged to win the 2021 Afcon next year in Cameroon and lead the Black Stars to secure a qualification for the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar.

Pappoe who was Black Stars Management Committee Chairman during the Serbian’s first stint says Rajevac’s tendency to lead by example is crucial for success.

“This is an opportunity to work with a coach who has done it before and worked diligently,” he told Citi Sports.

“Not just in terms of results but the way he applied himself to the job.

“His work ethic, his attitude, commitment and determination I believe are very important ingredients that the Black Stars need at this moment.

That’s what excites me about his reappointment,” he added.

He will be assisted by Otto Addo and Maxwell Konadu.

Rajevac’s first assignment will be against Zimbabwe on the 9th of October at the Cape Coast stadium in a Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifier.

The Black Stars sit 3rd with three points after two matches played.
