e.TV Ghana, Japan Motors hold 11th edition of Corporate Run and Walk

e.TV Ghana in collaboration with Japan Motors has held the 2021 edition of its annual corporate-run and walk event.

The event which took place on 21st September 2021 at the Silver Star Towers aimed at bringing together corporate institutions in Ghana to promote health and networking through team building and physical activities.

The event was also in commemoration of the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial day while running for charity.

The race commenced at 6:30 am from the Silver Star Tower as participants used the Liberation Road to 37, then onto the El-Wak road; then turned onto the defense drive and towards the Airport round-about. At the round-about, they now turned towards the Airport 1st round-about, then turned back onto the Liberation road and finished up at the Silver Star Tower Complex.

At the end of the race, the award for the fastest man went to Mohammed Kawi who finished the race in 17 minutes and 40 seconds. The second and third places for this category went to Jerry Tom Thompson and Jacob Acheampong respectively.

For the women category, Dr. Ashley Milton has adjudged the fastest woman as she ended the race in 24 minutes and 6 seconds. She was followed by Rachael Jireh and Muhammida El Muhajar who placed 2nd and 3rd in the race respectively.

In the Fastest CEO category, Chief Executive Officer of Branch Fitness, Clifford Poku Amankwah emerged the winner with a race time of 28 minutes 56 seconds.

The second in this category was former General Managing of Silver Bird Cinemas, Alberta Mensah who finished the race in 38 minutes 56 seconds.

Ambassador Edward Boateng, Founder, and Chairman of Global Media Alliance (GMA) were third in the Fastest CEO category.

Other categories included the Fastest Entrepreneur, Fastest Visually Impaired, and Fastest runner over 60 years.

Jerry Tom Thompson grabbed the fastest entrepreneur as he ended the race in 22 minutes 20 seconds.

Gerald Arhin from the Ghana Blind Union also took home the award for the fastest Visually Impaired, as he ended the race in 37 minutes and 38 seconds.

The Corporate team of the day was won by the Silver Star Ltd group, with an average time of 19 minutes and 32 seconds.

Rallying behind Silver Star in the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively were Lakeside Estates and DHL.

Included in the prizes for the fastest corporate team, was a Yamaha Motorbike.

Director of Broadcasting at GMABC, Timothy Karikari, speaking after the event noted: “We are extremely pleased that this event turned out to be a success as it has always been in previous years.

Unlike other previous events, today’s had to be held under the strictest adherence to Covid-19 preventive protocols throughout the entire process. In order to ensure that we limit the spread of the COVID-19, there was a pre-structured spacing of 1.8 m between participants in adherence to social distancing. There was also a sequential take-off so that participants take off in batches to avoid crowding. The run was a full-outdoor activity”.

Timothy Karikari expressed his appreciation to all participants and sponsors who supported this fun-filled event.
