Caf Champions League: Hearts of Oak fans limit their expectations but will do our best – Gladson Awako

Hearts of Oak midfielder Gladson Awako has pleaded with supporters of the club to limit their expectations ahead of their Caf Champions League participation but remain confident of playing the money zone.

Awako joined the Ghana Premier League champions on a two year deal from Great Olympics this summer.

The 30-year-old has teamed up with his new teammates as they prepare for the upcoming season and their Africa participation.

Speaking to JoySports, the former TP Mazembe star has asked all the Phobia fraternity to lower their expectations to relieve pressure on the players but assured them they will offer all they could to cruise into the Group Stages.

“They [Hearts of Oak fans] shouldn’t expect too much. We’ll do our best, we’ll do what we can to get to the money zone which won’t be easy,” he said.

“But I know with the team, the management and support from the board chairman I know, we’ll do our best to get to the money zone.

“So they shouldn’t expect too much that we’ll go and win the trophy. They should limit the expectation, which will take some pressure off the team,” he added.

Hearts of Oak will travel to play Guinean side Club Industriel de Kamsar on September 12, in the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
