Koforidua,- Chief Superintendent Raymond Kofi Erzuah, New Juaben South Municipal Police Commander, has urged the public to cooperate and volunteer trustworthy information to the Police to help fight crime.
“Security is a shared responsibility and as such it must be the priority of every citizen to relay credible information to the police to abate crime,’’ he said.
Speaking in an interview with GNA in Koforidua, Mr Erzuah, who also doubles as Acting Eastern Regional Operations Commander said it had been examined that criminals like robbers lived in communities and were thus well known by the people.
He cautioned that anyone with accurate information about persons into criminal activities but refusing to give it out to the police could become the next target of attack, robbery or probably be killed.
He pleaded with citizens not to hesitate to contact the nearest police station to report any criminal activities in their vicinities, adding, “they can equally inform the Crime Officer, District Commander, Divisional or Regional Commander to act upon such information.”
Mr Erzuah commended residents of Atewa West District for handing over to the police some illegal miners in the Atewa forest who posed as national security personnel.
He said such moves were helpful to the police in eliminating petty crimes and encouraged the public to emulate the gesture but cautioned against abusing the privilege of relaying information to the police.
