2022 WCQ: Midfielder Thomas Partey to miss Back Stars tie with Ethiopia and South Africa – Reports

Arsenal midfielder, Thomas Partey will miss the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa next month.

The 28-year-old picked up an injury in a preseason friendly against Chelsea.

Partey is expected to sit out for a month after a scan conducted by the club.

He is expected to recuperate fully at the end of August, which means he will not be fit on time for the World Cup qualifier opening match against Ethiopia on September 3 as well as the clash against the Bafana Bafana in South Africa three days later.

Ghana coach Charles Akonnor is expected to announce his squad for the double-header on Friday without the former Atletico Madrid talisman.

Ajax star Mohammed Kudus and other established midfielders are expected to fill the void created by the absence of the injured enforcer.

Partey will miss the first three games of the season, including the matches against Chelsea and Manchester City.
