2022 WCQ: CK Akonnor confident of good win against Ethiopia

Ghana coach Charles Akonnor is confident that his side will begin their 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers with victory against Ethiopia.

The Black Stars face the Walia Ibex in Cape Coast on Friday evening in their quest to represent Africa at the World Cup next year in Qatar.

Akonnor who has already qualified the Stars to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, is hoping to kick start the World Cup dream on a positive note.

“We have been training well. I have a full house and we are focused on winning our first game of the group,” he told reporters at the pre-match press conference.

“Furthermore, have confidence in the lads. They are all ready to compete for spots and eager to qualify for the World Cup after missing out in 2018.”

Akonnor failed to play in the World Cup and as a coach, it will be delightful for him to lead the Black Stars to Qatar.

To achieve such feat, he must, first of all, battle for a slot with Zimbabwe, Ethiopia and South Africa.
