Sunyani,- Rehabilitation works on the Sunyani Coronation Park have been completed for the park to host the Division One league matches, Mr.
Forster Kwame Opoku Boakye, the Bono Regional Director of the National Sport Authority (NSA) said on Wednesday.
He said the Authority was now waiting for the Club Licensing Committee (CLC) to give approval for the park to host the matches.
Tano Bofoakwa, B/United, and Young Apostles, Sunyani-based FCs as well as Baffour-Awuah Soccer Academy at Nsoatre in the Sunyani West Municipality have qualified to play the Division One League matches at the Coronation Park.
But, the clubs are playing their matches at different venues because the Park was going through rehabilitation works to meet the CLC standard.
Speaking in an interview with the GNA Sports in Sunyani, Mr. Boakye said “the park is now good enough to host the matches, saying works on the inner perimeter and the tunnel from the pitch to dressing room had all been completed.
During a visit the GNA sighted wire meshes were erected to prevent spectators from entering the inner perimeter.
Mr. Boakye expressed gratitude to Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister, club managers, and individuals as well as corporate institutions and the entire football lovers who contributed towards the rehabilitation works.
He appealed for support towards the mechanization of a borehole that would facilitate free flow of water at the coronation park.
Mr. Boakye said a multi-purpose court constructed at the park also required renovation to promote volley and basketball, and appealed to stakeholders to assist in that regard.
He added that the park had larger spaces for advertisement, and called on telecommunication companies and dealers in beverages to use the facility to improve revenue generation.
