Tema,— Augustine Manasseh returned a net score of 149 to win this year’s Tema Open Golf Championship which ended at the Tema Centre of the World Golf Course on Sunday.
He was followed by Prince Egyiri with 150 net, who beat Yaw Degbe on count-back while Sampson Asorgba placed fourth with 152 net.
In the Ladies segment, young and enterprising Bernice Esi Dzitorworko came first with 162 gross, Jesica Tei took the second position with 166 gross while Georgina Andoh placed third with 188 gross with the fourth position going to Mona Myles-Lamptey with 190 gross.
In the Men’s Group ‘B’ encounter, Michael Nyarko grossed 166 scores to lift the trophy, Nana Joseph took the second position with 175 gross while Maxwell Darkwa placed third with 177 gross.
Charles Martey came first in the Seniors category with 71 net while Paul Owusu-Baah took the second position with 86 net.
Emos Korblah and L.A. Ayisah grossed 144 score each to take the first and the second positions whilst Vincent Torgah and Biggie Chibuuri also had 147 gross each to place third and fourth respectively.
The two-day 36-Hole scratch event opened to amateur and professional golfers throughout the country attracted 150 participants.
It was jointly sponsored by Kingdom Exim Limited, Dubai Energy Drink, Montgomery residences and Tropical cables and Conductors Limited.
Dr. Paul Owusu-Baah, President of the Centre of the World Golf, commended the participants for their outstanding performances throughout the tournament.
He called on the youth to take an active interest in the game so that they will take up from the old men in the times of their retirement.
