Ashantigold President, Dr. Kwaku Frimpong has dismissed his involvement in betting but insists he has prophets who prophesy on the league games of the club.
The respected business mogul and his son, who is the Chief Executive Officer of the club, Emmanuel Frimpong, have been slapped with charges of match manipulation in their matchday 34 of the Ghana Premier League against relegated Inter Allies at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium last season.
The image of Ghana football was dented when Ashantigold defeated Inter Allies 7-0 on home turf.
Inter Allies captain Hashmin Musah revealed after the game that he deliberately scored two own goals in order to foil a bet placed on the match.
The game dominated the international and local media following the outcome of the game.
However, in an interview with Kumasi-based Akoma FM, Dr. Kwaku Frimpong disclosed he does not bet on matches but rather has prophets who prophesy his matches.
He has therefore charged the Ghana FA to do the right with regards to match-fixing allegations.
“I don’t do betting but rather I have prophets who prophesy on our game and give us results, and when I come out with the results, they say I engage in betting,” he said.
“I don’t want to talk much on my case (Ashantigold/Inter Allies) because I trust GFA to do the right thing,” he added.
Ashgold meanwhile have started the 2021/22 season well and sit on the 5th position on the league log with 7 points.
