Do independent work – BECE candidates urged

Accra,- Madam Mariama Karley Amui, Ablekuma Central Municipal Chief Executive, has urged candidates writing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination in the Municipality to do independent work.

She advised them against depending on other candidates who could lead them astray.

The nationwide examination commenced today, Monday, November 15, with the candidates writing two papers; Social Studies and French.

The MCE, in the company of the Municipal Director of Education, Mrs Monica Ansaba Kumavor, visited some examination centres, including Lartebiokorshie Presby JHS, President Barack Obama Basic School and Salvation Army Basic School.

The team was told that a total of 2, 883 candidates were writing the examination and out of that, 1,562 were from public schools and 1,321 from private schools at 12 examination centres in Municipality.

The GNA observed that the candidates, invigilators and supervisors were abiding by COVID-19 safety measures strictly.

Madam Abigail Asare Dometey, Headmistress of the President Barack Obama Basic school, said her school presented 90 candidates and hopeful they would excel.
