My son is a better footballer than me, says ex-Hearts of Oak forward Don Bortey

Hearts of Oak legend, Bernard Don Bortey has reiterated that his son who is studying accounting is a better footballer than he ever was in his prime.

Bortey who started his career with Ghapoha Readers rose to become a kingpin in the Ghana Premier League after joining Hearts of Oak.

He won four Ghana Premier League titles with the Phobians, as well as the CAF Super Cup and CAF Confederations Cup.

He was also joint top-scorer in the league in 2003 after netting 18 goals and was part of the Black Starlets side that won bronze at the 1999 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

“My son is an accounting student at the University of Ghana. He’s a better player me when I was playing,” Don Bortey told Asempa FM.

Don Bortey has indicated his readiness to venture into coaching after retiring from football.

Bortey, however, remains one of the best players to have ever graced the Ghana Premier League.
