Sunyani: Mr Atta Akoto-Senior, the President of the Sunyani Youth Development Association (SYDA), announced that the association is launching a project to enhance sanitation and waste management in Sunyani, the Bono Regional capital.
According to Ghana News Agency, the project, titled 'Litter Free Street', involves placing litter bins at strategic locations throughout the Sunyani Central Business District (CBD) to collect plastic waste. This effort aims to support the Sunyani Municipal Assembly's ongoing efforts to maintain cleanliness in the city.
In an interview conducted during a clean-up exercise organized by the Association in Sunyani, Mr Akoto-Senior highlighted that the project aligns with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He noted that the initiative contributes to achieving global goals 6, 11, 12, 15, and 17.
Mr Akoto-Senior expressed that the Association was inspired by the Sunyani Municipal Assembly's commitment to keeping the city clean and praised the leadership of Mr Vincent Antwi Agyei, the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive.
During the clean-up exercise, association members cleared clogged gutters, collected plastic waste, and swept the surrounding areas, demonstrating their commitment to the initiative.
