Accra: The ROKA Kids Invitational Marathon is set to make its biggest return yet, with organisers announcing that the 4th edition of the annual children's race will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.
According to Ghana Web, the event, held in collaboration with the Ghana Armed Forces (Sports Directorate), will run from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and is open to children across four school categories: Kindergarten, Lower Primary, Upper Primary, and Junior High. This reflects the marathon's commitment to age-appropriate competition for children between the ages of 4 and 15.
Founder Madam Kissiwaa Osei emphasized that the marathon is about more than racing. "This marathon is more than just a race. It is a platform for building confidence, nurturing talents, and teaching our children that in life, just like in running, it is not only about speed, but also about endurance, resilience, and the courage to keep moving forward," she said.
Now in its third year, the ROKA Kids Invitational Marathon has evolved from a simple idea into a movement that brings together families, schools, and communities in a shared celebration of youthful energy and healthy living. The event aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal Four, which focuses on the holistic development of young people for life-long learning.
Madam Osei had a special message for the young participants, encouraging them to appreciate the journey over the outcome. "Each step you take today is a step towards a stronger you. Whether you finish first, in the middle, or last, what matters most is that you gave your best and you finished what you started. That is the true spirit of ROKA Kids Invitational Marathon," she said.
Participating schools must submit a list of contestants at ROKA Int School or via email before the deadline. They must field 10 participants per race category while ensuring gender balance. Schools will also be responsible for transporting their participants and supporters to the venue.
Winners will receive cash prizes, sneakers, products from sponsors, individual medals, and special school trophies for placements from first to third place. All participants will receive certificates of participation.
Reflecting on the significance of the occasion, Madam Osei expressed hopes that the 4th edition would reinforce the event's broader mission. "As we mark the 4th edition's event, let us continue to run with passion, with laughter, and with the belief that we are building not just healthy bodies, but strong minds and brighter futures," she said.
