Accra: New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman aspirant, Chairman Wontumi, has secured another major endorsement from one of the New Patriotic Party's respected elders, Stanley Nii Adjiri Blankson, former Mayor of Accra, former Member of the Council of State, and current member of the NPP National Council. During a meeting held in Accra on Tuesday May 26, 2026, Chairman Wontumi reflected on his political journey, the challenges he has faced, and his commitment to the party.
According to Ghana Web, Chairman Wontumi stressed that his grassroots connection remains the foundation of his bid for the position of National Chairman. He emphasized the collective effort required to win elections, highlighting his deep understanding of the grassroots' concerns, sacrifices, and expectations. In his words, "Political victory is not about titles or certificates; it is about understanding and connecting with the grassroots, and no one understands them better than I do. My mission is to get the job done."
Responding, Blankson offered strong words of endorsement, encouragement, and fatherly counsel. He expressed his long-standing experience in politics and acknowledged Wontumi's loyalty and dedication to the party, stating, "God will reward you. Listen to advice. Wontumi stated, "Hon Blankson is entrusting Greater Accra into my hands so we can reclaim all lost seats not only in the Ashanti Region, but across every region of Ghana."
Outlining his vision for the party, Wontumi pledged to work tirelessly to secure victory for the NPP in 2028. He committed to working hard to ensure that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia becomes the next President of Ghana and promised to be a National Chairman for all 276 constituencies and all 16 regions. He assured, "I will descend into the trenches, work hand in hand with the grassroots, and lead the party back to victory in 2028."
The visit forms part of his ongoing stakeholder engagements, which have included meetings with former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and former NPP National Chairman Freddie Blay, among others.
