Yendi Constituency safest under our MP; we’re targeting 20,000 votes in 2024 – Executives

Constituency Executives of the New Patriotic Party NPP in Yendi have expressed optimism that their Member of Parliament (MP), Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama will increase the margin in the next elections, describing the seat as “safest.”

They said this when they appeared on Sagani TV’s morning show, dubbed ‘Bieg Neeya’ hosted by Inusah Hamza Lansah to throw more light on matters that have arisen from the recent elections held to elect the new executives.

According to the executives, the MP made an unprecedented record that is impossible for the opposition National Democratic Congress NDC to break anytime soon, adding that they are going to gather 20,000 votes in 2024.

“Our former MP, Alhaji Habib Tijaani left the constituency with less than 4,000 votes. But when Alhaji Farouk became MP, the margin was increased to 16, 000 votes. Though, we were targeting more than that. That is why our target is 20, 000 this time around”, the communications director told the host.

“The numbers did not just increase. The impact was as a result of the new leadership. The parliamentary candidate. Because he did a lot of things that touched the people. For the first time a PC used his personal money to bring developmental projects even before becoming an MP”, he added.

On unity, the constituency chairman reiterated the MP’s call for togetherness, adding that they can not break the 8 without the support of everyone on board.

“When our former MPs were all in the office, not everybody in Yendi wanted them, but the party gave them the needed support. So we are expecting the same support for the current MP, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama to enable him work”, the chairman concluded.
