Accra: Madam Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, Member of Parliament for the La Dade-Kotopon Constituency, has announced that construction and rehabilitation works on inner roads within the constituency are set to commence before the end of 2026. This announcement was made during her tour of selected electoral areas in the constituency, aimed at assessing ongoing community development projects.
According to Ghana News Agency, Madam Sowah, who also serves as the Deputy Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, emphasized that despite common beliefs, numerous inner roads in La Dade-Kotopon still need urgent attention to enhance accessibility and improve living conditions for residents. The MP shared that she had discussions with the Minister for Roads and Highways regarding the reconstruction of these roads and expressed optimism that work would begin soon.
Madam Sowah highlighted the ongoing construction of the La Beach Road as evidence of the government's commitment to enhancing road infrastructure in the area. This project, which has been a priority for residents, is nearing completion and has already significantly alleviated traffic congestion along the route.
In addition to road infrastructure, Madam Sowah reiterated the government's dedication to completing the long-delayed La General Hospital project, considered a significant priority for both the government and the La community. She mentioned a recent visit by President John Dramani Mahama to the project site, during which he assured contractors that payment certificates would be processed promptly to avoid execution delays. The hospital project is expected to be finished by the end of 2027, providing quality healthcare services to La Dade-Kotopon and neighboring areas.
Throughout her tour, Madam Sowah engaged with residents as part of her ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure and public services within the constituency. She pledged to continue working collaboratively with authorities to ensure the timely development of the area, particularly focusing on inner roads, which are crucial for urban development. The state of these roads affects flooding, transport costs, and emergency response times in densely populated areas like La, highlighting the need for urgent improvements.
