Wenchi:A woman has shared her experience of how a TikTok video and the promise of a large sum of money led her to travel from Accra to Wenchi in the Bono Region. Upon her arrival, she was reportedly asked to provide items for rituals to receive the promised money.
According to Ghana Web, the woman recounted that the man she communicated with assured her that no rituals were involved in the process. He claimed that by joining a purported Freemason sect, she would receive substantial funds from the elders as startup capital for her business. She was motivated to call the number from the TikTok video because she was seeking solutions to her problems, and the man promised that joining would solve them.
She was informed that members of the sect met every four months and were only required to buy a costume for the meetings. The man told her that the headquarters was located in Wenchi. Upon her arrival, a man picked her up and took her to the meeting place, explaining that he regularly transported new members. However, her suspicions grew as they traveled deeper into a bushy area.
During the trip, she informed the driver that her children were tracking her location, as she had not disclosed her visit to Wenchi. The driver stopped at a washing bay, made some phone calls, and then continued the journey. When they reached the destination, she met the man she had initially spoken to, whom she described as appearing innocent.
The woman claimed she was informed that she would only receive the money after completing certain rituals, which required items such as a red candle, sand from her home in Accra, and three handkerchiefs.
