Why Black Stars Need Nketiah and Odoi Urgently – Moses Foh Amoaning Explains

Accra: Former Ghana Boxing Association (GBA) President, Moses Foh Amoaning has reiterated that the Black Stars urgently need the services of Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi to strengthen the team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to Ghana Web, his sources indicate that Nketiah has nearly completed the processes to be eligible to play for Ghana, while Hudson-Odoi is still working on his own. The veteran broadcaster emphasised that he finds no fault with journalists advocating for their inclusion and fully supports the move, stressing that their quality will benefit the Black Stars.

Foh Amoaning expressed that if journalists are advocating for players like Kevin-Prince Boateng to play for Ghana, it is a positive initiative. He believes that similar efforts to include Eddie Nketiah and Hudson-Odoi are beneficial, as their participation would enhance the national team's quality. He also mentioned that although Nketiah is currently injured, there is optimism about his future involvement with the Black Stars. Additionally, there are some issues concerning Hudson-Odoi, but he is hopeful these will be resolved.

Furthermore, Foh Amoaning called for proper measures to ensure foreign-based nationals are recruited at earlier stages, rather than pursuing them when they mature. He suggested that by establishing a system that guides players while they are abroad, it would be beneficial for the national team. He acknowledged that many football association officials and journalists have vested interests in promoting certain players, advocating for a system that inherently generates quality talent.
