Where’s dishonest Prof. Steve Hanke; he’s suddenly quiet about the cedi bold performance – Presidential Staffer

A key member of the ruling NPP administration, Samuel Bryan Buabeng has taken a swipe at US economist, Prof. Steve Hanke, over the cedi’s sudden rise against the dollar.

The global economist has been on the nerves of Ghana’s government to dissolve its central bank and create a currency board because, to him, that is the only way the currency will be stabilized.

He has on countless occasions insisted that the cedi is sinking deep into the mud with no hope of stabilisation any time soon.

Meanwhile, the Ghanaian cedi last week bounced back stronger to become the best-performing currency in the world despite being described in the past 10 months as the worst on the currency market.

The cedi, which used to sell at GHS15 a couple of weeks ago, is now being sold around GHS10, an event many economists around the world have commended.

On that score, the Deputy Director of New Media at the President’s office is asking why the “prophet of doom” Prof. Steve Hanke has suddenly lost his voice.

“Prof. Steve Hanke is dishonest?! His sudden silence on the performance of the ? leaves much to be desired.

“It’s obvious he’s vociferous in propaganda than his academic concentration,” he wrote in a tweet on Wednesday, December 14.
