We’ve leant our mistakes and now prepared for Wontumi; NDC’ll match NPP boot-to-boot in Ashanti Region – Former NDC Chairman

The former Ashanti Regional Chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Obimpe has expressed concerns over what he described as a political mafia in the Ashanti Region.

In an interview with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye on the Sompa TV morning show on May 31, he said the NDC is poised for action against the ruling NPP and ready to square off with anyone irrespective of what happens in the 2024 general elections.

He emphasized the number of occasions the NPP has had their way with lies, false accusations and propaganda in the region leading to the NDC’s failure to amass numbers or even maintain their numbers in the elections in the region.

“We saw what happened in 20216 and 2020 respectively, the ballot boxes at the Georgia hotel, the one at Wontumi’s house, the planned game against Yaw Amoa Ponko of Ejisu, Iddisa Adams of Kwabre et al. The insult raised against John Dramani Mahama. Look, we are ready to face them, they will have to kill us, we will spill blood if we have to,” he said.

He asserted the NDC have prepared enough for the 2024 elections.

In reaction to the comment by the former chairman of the NDC, the former 1st vice-chairman of the New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti region, Kwabena Senkyire said the NPP is focused and will not give room for any intimidation from the opposition party.
