WAFCON 2026: Algeria Advances to Quarter-Finals with Win Over Kenya

Algeria: Algeria booked their place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations with a 2-0 victory over Kenya in their final Group A match. Captain Marine Dafeur opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a long-range free-kick before Lynda Bendris doubled the lead nine minutes later after capitalising on a goalkeeping error.

According to Ghana Web, Algeria controlled the contest from start to finish to secure second place in Group A behind hosts Morocco. Kenya, on the other hand, bowed out of the tournament without a point.

Algeria will now shift their focus to the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, Kenya ends their campaign still searching for their first-ever WAFCON win, despite showing flashes of promise throughout the tournament.
