Gomoa mpota: A viral video has emerged on social media, purporting to show the final resting place of the late Ghanaian industrialist, inventor, and founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka. The location is reported to be at the Apostle Safo Suaye Centre of Excellence in Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region of Ghana.
According to Ghana Web, the footage, shared by @infoghana360 on X on July 31, 2026, showcases a white multi-storey building featuring classical columns, arched windows, balconies, and landscaped grounds. The video also depicts individuals in traditional funeral attire walking around the expansive paved courtyard of the complex, capturing the moment with pictures.
The site is said to be part of a nearly 140-acre industrial and technology hub associated with the Kantanka Group, which includes automobile manufacturing facilities and other research and training operations. Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, known as Kantanka or the 'Star of Africa,' passed away on September 11, 2025. He was a significant figure in promoting indigenous manufacturing, engineering, and technological self-reliance in Ghana and Africa. His efforts included creating locally designed vehicles suited to African conditions and contributions in electronics, agriculture, and skills training.
The Gomoa Mpota complex has long been linked with his industrial vision. Reports suggest that a memorial edifice or mausoleum was prepared there to serve as his final resting place, housing personal items, tools, inventions, and prototypes as a permanent exhibition of his contributions to Ghana's industrialisation drive.
