Accra: The Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) has officially announced that the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) will host the 9th edition of the Mini GUSA Games. The games are scheduled to take place from May 5 to 15, 2026, under the theme 'Integrating University Sports with Academic Professionalism.'
According to Ghana Web, a statement released on May 4, 2026, indicated that this year's event will feature participation from fourteen public universities. The games will include events such as athletics, 3x3 basketball, football, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, and badminton. The event aims to serve as a platform for identifying talents who can represent Ghana in various sporting disciplines in the future.
The announcement highlighted the significance of the Mini GUSA Games in nurturing talent to represent Ghana at regional and international levels. It also emphasized the role of the games in promoting unity, healthy lifestyles, active youth engagement, and strengthening inter-university relations.
The President of GUSA, Ibrahim Shaibu Tanko, underscored the games' importance in sports development across the country. He stated that the Mini GUSA Games are crucial in showcasing the athletic potential of students and reinforcing the values of discipline, teamwork, and academic excellence, which are essential for national progress.
