UCF Holds Orientation for Regional Young Cadres in Tadzewu; Calls for Unity and Support

Tadzewu: The United Cadres Front (UCF) has held an orientation workshop for Regional Young Cadres Coordinators and Secretaries from across the country in Tadzewu. The orientation aimed at strengthening the capacity of young cadres and clarifying their roles within the organisation and the NDC party.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Shine Gavey, National Chairman of the UCF, stated that the training was necessary to help young cadres understand their identity, responsibilities, and the relationship between the UCF and the party. He emphasized that while all cadres are party members, not every party member is a cadre, highlighting the need for clarity in collaboration and structure. Mr Gavey expressed concerns over complaints about the party's unfriendly attitude towards cadres and restrictions on their programs, which the workshop aimed to address.

Mr Gavey acknowledged that many cadres felt neglected after electoral victories despite their significant involvement in campaigns. He noted that after elections, the focus shifts to the party hierarchy, leaving cadres and allies out of the loop. He urged the party and government to recognize the contributions of grassroots workers and advocated for their inclusion in available opportunities. Additionally, he called for financial, material, and legal support for UCF activities, emphasizing the need for official integration of cadres into party structures with representation from national to grassroots levels.

Madam Priscilla Mercy Nketia Akromah, National Women's Coordinator of the UCF, remarked that unity among cadres has improved after years of division. She encouraged women cadres to prepare for opportunities under government initiatives such as the 24-hour economy, suggesting that organizing through cooperatives can provide every woman with economic engagement.

Ms Ophelia Asante Antwi, Bono Regional Young Cadres Coordinator, shared that her understanding of cadreship has deepened since joining, countering the perception of neglect. She described cadres as the ideological root of the party, essential for rebuilding and strengthening the movement. Ms Antwi advocated for the integration of cadres into party structures, noting that the feeling of neglect discourages many young people. She urged young cadres to take initiative, organize locally, support party activities, and mobilize their communities.
