Sanaa:Amid a scandal surrounding visa arrangements for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Tribe Culture Fest has come under scrutiny, leading to the suspension of Yaw Ampofo Ankrah as the Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA).
According to Ghana Web, Tribe Culture Fest initially partnered with the Ghana Tourism Authority and the NSA to enhance World Cup viewing experiences across Ghana. However, the controversy emerged when the partnership allegedly expanded to include visa-related activities.
The allegations involve former NSA Chief Operations Officer Gyamfi Kusi Awere, who was introduced to Nana Boateng Gyimah, CEO of Tribe Culture Fest, by Ankrah to facilitate visas for the event. Reports indicate that Gyamfi received payments from applicants and forwarded the money to Gyimah for visa processing.
The petition, read by Multimedia Sports journalist Muftawu Nabila, claims that after initial successes, Ankrah directed further cooperation with Gyimah for visa facilitation. It is alleged that Gyamfi and Ankrah each received $56,000 in commissions from Gyimah, but some applicants did not receive visas, prompting demands for refunds.
Investigations are ongoing, and the claims are yet to be proven in court. Tribe Culture Fest's CEO, Nana Boateng Gyimah, has not publicly commented but is reportedly cooperating with the investigation.
