Sikaman-brofoyeduru: Traditional leaders in the Ashanti Region have conducted a libation ceremony at the Sikaman-Brofoyeduru site where a helicopter crash claimed the lives of eight state officials. The ceremony was held to honor the memory of those who perished in the tragic incident.
According to Ghana Web, the crash, which occurred on August 6, 2025, resulted in the deaths of several high-ranking officials, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah and Environment, Science and Technology Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed. The victims also included security officials and Ghana Air Force personnel who were on an official assignment.
The chiefs and elders of the community gathered to perform the traditional rite, emphasizing the cultural significance of the practice in mourning and remembrance. The pouring of libation is a customary act meant to pay respects to the deceased and seek spiritual solace.
