Accra: Torgbui Tenuvi II, the Youth and Developmental Chief of the Aflao Traditional Area, is set to honour more than 300 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates from the Ketu South Municipality for their performance in the 2026 examination. The programme, scheduled for Friday, September 11, 2026, will be held at the Viepe School Park and is expected to bring together traditional leaders, education officials, teachers, parents, guardians, and members of the public.
According to Ghana News Agency, the event will host prominent figures such as Torgbui Adzongaga Amenya Fiti V, the Paramount Chief of the Aflao Traditional Area; Torgbuiga Adama III, Paramount Chief of the Som¨ Traditional Area; Torgbui Addo IX, Paramount Chief of the Klikor Traditional Area; and Mr Godwin Amelor, the Ketu South Municipal Education Director. Mr Charles Epiphany Ativor, Aide to Torgbui Tenuvi II, stated that the beneficiaries were selected based on their performance in the just-ended BECE and came from various public and private basic schools across the municipality.
He indicated that the graduates would receive mattresses, trunks, chop boxes, and other essential educational materials to support their transition to Senior High School (SHS). According to Mr Ativor, the support is intended to reduce the financial burden on parents and guardians and complement the Government's Free Senior High School policy. He noted that Torgbui Tenuvi had, over the years, supported education in the Municipality by helping to ease some of the financial pressures associated with the education of children.
Mr Ativor highlighted that, as part of preparations for the 2026 BECE, the Youth and Developmental Chief solely financed three separate mock examinations for candidates in the municipality. Torgbui Tenuvi also provided mathematics sets to candidates to support them during the examination. Furthermore, Torgbui Tenuvi supported candidates in the municipality by providing funds for the purchase of examination results-checking vouchers, enabling them to access their BECE results.
Mr Ativor mentioned that Torgbui Tenuvi had earlier promised candidates who achieved good grades substantial support in cash and educational materials to enable them to continue their education. He added that Friday's programme would therefore provide an opportunity to honour the successful graduates and support their transition to the next stage of their education. Teachers and head teachers from various schools, as well as parents, guardians, and members of the public, are expected to participate in the programme.
