Matse: Togbega Osei Tutu VII, the Paramount Chief of the Matse Traditional Area, has taken a significant step towards resolving the ongoing water challenges at the Volta Technical Institute (VTI) by donating GHS20,000. This initiative supports the legacy project initiated by his predecessor.
According to Ghana News Agency, the donation was made on June 2, 2026, during a brief ceremony where executives of the Matse Citizens Association (MACA) were present. The funds were part of a financial contribution Togbega Osei Tutu VII received from the Presidency after his official visit to the Jubilee House for a meeting with President John Dramani Mahama.
Togbega Osei Tutu VII emphasized the importance of addressing the water issues at VTI, as it aligns with the vision of the late paramount chief, who had prioritized educational development and community advancement. He highlighted that a reliable water supply is crucial for improving the teaching and learning environment, as well as for ensuring the welfare of both students and staff.
In his remarks, Togbega Osei Tutu VII stated, "This contribution is dedicated to supporting the water project at Volta Technical Institute, which remains an important legacy of the late Togbega Osei Tutu VI. It is our collective responsibility to sustain and complete initiatives that will benefit future generations."
Mr. Nestor Percy Galley, a key member of MACA, received the donation on behalf of the association. He expressed gratitude to the Paramount Chief for his generous gesture and ongoing commitment to community development. He noted that the donation is both timely and significant and will greatly aid efforts to provide a permanent solution to the institute's water supply issues.
Warrant Officer William Tekpo (Rtd) and Superintendent Albert Deletsa (Rtd), who were part of the MACA delegation, also praised Togbega Osei Tutu VII for his leadership and dedication to the welfare of the community and the advancement of education in the traditional area.
The executives assured that the funds would be used for their intended purpose and reaffirmed their commitment to working with stakeholders to complete the water project, thereby preserving the developmental legacy of the late Togbega Osei Tutu VI.
