Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, a General Secretary aspirant in the just-ended 10th National Delegates’ Congress of the opposition NDC has spoken after losing the election.
The former Sports Minister said he has accepted the decision by the delegate to choose Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey over him.
In a statement issued today, Tuesday, December 19, Mr. Afriyie Ankrah congratulated the newly elected Secretary and promised to play his part to help the party wrestle power from the ruling NPP.
“I wish to take this opportunity to congratulate Fifi Fiavi Kwetey on his election as the General Secretary of our great party.
“I am grateful to the delegates who voted for me, but as the results indicate, the majority gave their mandate to Fifi. “The people have spoken, and I accept their verdict,” he wrote.
“Let us all rally behind my brother Fifi Fiavi Kwetey and the new National Executive, giving them all the requisite support they need to prepare our party for electoral victory in 2024 and rescue our beloved country from the doldrums into which this under-performing NPP administration has plunged it,” the statement stressed, adding, “May God continue to bless the NDC.”
The opposition party went to congress to elect national executives at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, December 19.
The new leadership headed by Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the national chairman said they will sacrifice their lives to win power for NDC in the 2024 general elections.

Fellow Akatamansonians,
Congratulations to all Party faithful for the successful organization of our National Delegates’ Conference, the highlight of which was the election of a new National Executive for our party.
The show of unity at the Congress, the excitement of the Delegates, and the Energy on display are ample manifestations of our motivation to go into the next electoral battle and win it for our Party and Mother Ghana.
I wish to take this opportunity to congratulate Fifi Fiavi Kwetey on his election as the General Secretary of our great Party.
