Abesim (B/A), Abesim, a farming community in the Sunyani Municipality was thrown into a state of grief and mourning, when well wishers joined families and friends for the interment of the late Andrew Kwasi Oppong-Ababio, the former Municipal Chief Executive last Saturday.
The late Oppong-Ababio, 63, died after a short illness at the Regional Hospital in Sunyani, on Saturday January 21, 2017. He left a widow and four children.
Thousands of supporters from the political divide, including both NDC and NPP could not control their tears, when family members of the late Sunyani MCE took turns to read a memorial in honour of the deceased.
Clad in NDC party colours and mourning cloth, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the General Secretary of the NDC led a delegation of Party members to tribute to the late MCE.
In a burial mass, the Reverend Father Augustine Ansu Gyamoah, Parish Priest of the Abesim Roman Catholic Church, described the late Oppong-Ababio as truthful, friendly, strong and brave politician.
He said the death of the former MCE was a big blow to the church, and also was an indication that death is inevitable, and asked the mourners to prepare so that they could enjoy heavenly comfort when they die.
