London: The national female Table Tennis team of Ghana, known as the ‘Black Loopers’, is set to make an appearance at the 2026 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Championships in London. This marks a significant achievement for the team, as they have qualified for the prestigious event following a long absence from the international table tennis scene.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Black Loopers earned their spot after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Angola at the ITTF-Africa Championships in Tunis, Tunisia. This victory served as the continental qualifier, enabling Ghana to compete on the world stage. The team displayed exceptional resilience, especially after an earlier setback against Egypt, a dominant force in African table tennis.
In the critical match against Angola, Ghana initially found themselves trailing, as Cynthia Kwabi lost 2-3 to Ruth Tavares and Eva Adom-Amankwah fell 1-3 to Albino Isabel. However, the tide turned when Joanita Borteye secured a decisive 3-0 win against Sous

The decisive moment came when Eva Adom-Amankwah held her nerve to clinch a 3-2 victory against Ruth Tavares, sealing the win and Ghana’s historic qualification. This result placed Ghana second in their group, granting them a coveted spot at the World Championships in London.
Mr. Mawuko Afadzinu, President of the Ghana Table Tennis Association, praised the team’s outstanding performance and highlighted the significance of this achievement for Ghana table tennis.
