Tema: TDC Ghana Ltd has expressed concern over the demolition of preparatory works at its Community 1, Site 3 Housing Project by the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA).
According to Ghana Web, a press release posted on TDC's Facebook page on Friday, August 13, 2026, stated that the company had received a stop-work order from the TMA on August 7, 2026. The order stipulated that TDC had seven days to submit the necessary documents and respond to the concerns raised by the Assembly. However, TDC reported that TMA officials returned to the site on August 12 and demolished the preparatory works before the end of the seven-day period.
The company described the demolition as 'deeply regrettable' and emphasized that it had already initiated steps to address the Assembly's concerns through the appropriate channels. TDC insisted that the period granted to respond was still active and expressed that disagreements between public institutions should be resolved through dialogue and constructive institutional engagement.
TDC reiterated its respect for the statutory mandate of the TMA and its commitment to fulfilling all regulatory requirements. The company highlighted that the Community 1, Site 3 project is a part of its contribution to the government's housing delivery programme, aimed at addressing the country's housing needs.
Additionally, TDC welcomed the intervention of Regional Police Commander, DCOP Anderson Fosu, and expressed confidence in reaching a peaceful resolution to the matter.
