Accra: Actress Tayo Sobola, also known as Sotayo Gaga, has disclosed her conscious decision to retreat from the limelight, emphasizing her preference for peace and personal space. Sobola shared insights into her hiatus during an interview with Saturday Beats, where she discussed her focus on self-reflection, motherhood, and business ventures during her time away from the public eye.
According to Ghana Web, Sobola clarified that her absence was not indicative of inactivity. The actress utilized this period to concentrate on her entrepreneurial endeavors, developing her brands, and engaging in personal growth. She explained, "Those periods I was off the scene were for personal reflection and growing my brand. By the time I was ready to return to acting, motherhood set in, and I embraced it without distraction." Despite the demands of motherhood, Sobola managed to juggle her responsibilities, working on brand positioning, crafting new designs for her fashion lines, and developing movie scripts.
Sobola highlighted that her withdrawal from the public eye provided a valuable opportunity to cultivate her businesses and innovate. She also shared an intimate aspect of her character, portraying herself as an emotional individual who values a close-knit circle of friends. "We all have our personal struggles because no one is born perfect. The ability to rise after every challenge is what makes one strong. I am a loner who loves to keep my circle very small," she remarked.
Discussing the synergy between her real name and her stage name, Sotayo Gaga, Sobola noted that both identities are interconnected and mutually beneficial. "The brand and the name have always worked together. They are like Siamese twins that benefit from one another. Many people identify more with the name Sotayo Gaga, but in reality, neither of the two names is bigger than the other. I simply know when each is most appropriate," she explained.
