Zimbabwean versatile winger Bruce Kangwa and Ghanaian Daniel Amoah have each signed a three-year contract with Azam FC, boosting the Ice Cream Makers team ahead of the Mainland Premier league.
Their signing means Azam FC now has five foreign players. The list also includes goalkeeper Daniel Techi Yeboah, Serge Wawa, Jean Mugiraneza and Kipre Ballou.
Kangwa becomes the fourth Zimbabwean player in the Tanzanian premier league after Method Mwanjali, Donald Ngoma and Thabani Kamusoka, all playing for Young Africans.
Back home, he boasts an impressive 10-year legacy with Highlanders aka ‘Bosso’, one of Zimbabwe’s premier league giants based in the country’s second capital city of Bulawayo.
Announcing a deal sealed, Azam FC information officer Jaffer Idd said: “We have agreed with Highlanders to sign the player, we are happy because Kangwa is good and we believe he will assist our team to win the title, and turn us into a force to reckon with in the Confederation Cup.”
Kangwa, who can play left defense, attacking midfield and strike, has been in the team’s camp for two weeks of trials.
Three days into the trials, Azam FC revealed that they were signing him, but the process delayed as negotiations with Highlanders went on. Kangwa is on top of the scoring chart of the Zimbabwean league.
“He is the kind of player that our technical bench wants. We need players who can play various positions well,” said Idd.
Kangwa said he was happy to join Azam FC. “I m happy to join the team, this is new challenge. But to deliver my the best I will bank on cooperation from other team players,” he said.
Turning to the Ghanaian defender, Idd said Amoah, who played for Medeama FC, had also impressed the technical bench during the Confederation Cup, especially when the team played Young Africans.
He said the team had made follow ups on the player, and was satisfied with his standard. Amoah is expected to travel to Ghana for Medema FC’s match against TP Mazembe on August 13.
Apart from Amoah, Azam FC also has signed Enock Atta from the same team.
However, Atta has been released back on loan basis to Medeama FC.
