Accra: Entertainment pundit MC Yaa Yeboah has called on Ghanaians to stop placing the blame for every national challenge on President John Dramani Mahama, insisting that state institutions and public officials must also be held accountable.
According to Ghana Web, during a discussion on United Showbiz on July 4, 2026, MC Yaa Yeboah mentioned that the president has appointed officials to oversee various sectors, making it unfair to expect him to shoulder all the responsibility. She emphasized that public officials who receive salaries must be accountable for carrying out their responsibilities effectively.
MC Yaa Yeboah also questioned the preparedness of local assemblies and the Ghana Meteorological Agency, arguing that they should have anticipated the heavy rains and taken preventive measures. She claimed she had learnt that assemblies had been provided with equipment, including desilting machines, and wondered whether those resources were being put to good use.
She further stressed that sanitation has long been one of Ghana’s biggest challenges and urged the relevant institutions to implement measures to minimise the impact of flooding. MC Yaa Yeboah also criticised those who politicise disasters instead of focusing on solutions.
