Accra: Afro-dancehall musician Stonebwoy has added his voice to the growing reactions following the devastating floods that swept through parts of Greater Accra after hours of heavy rainfall on June 29, 2026. Reacting to the disaster, which left several communities submerged, the award-winning musician took to his X page to express sympathy for affected families and communities.
According to Ghana Web, the ‘Jejereje’ hitmaker stressed that preventing future flooding is a shared responsibility, urging the public to stop dumping refuse into drainage systems, avoid putting up structures in waterways, and ensure households construct proper drainage channels to improve the flow of water. Stonebwoy also appealed to the authorities to take urgent action by desilting existing drains and, where necessary, widening and reconstructing major drainage channels across the capital to accommodate increasing volumes of water.
The floods in Accra on June 29, 2026, resulted in deaths, extensive property damage, and major disruptions to vehicular movement across several parts of the capital. Several roads became impassable, leaving commuters stranded. Stonebwoy emphasized the importance of community cooperation and adherence to safety advisories from NADMO and other relevant authorities to mitigate future disasters.
