Accra: The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has dismissed reports suggesting that it is selling its hotel investments, insisting that claims circulating in sections of the media and on social media are 'false, misleading, and without basis'.
According to Ghana Web, the Trust issued a statement clarifying that no sale process is underway for its hotel assets. This response came after publications alleging the sale of hotel assets appeared in the Ghanaian Times and Daily Graphic on March 24, 2026. SSNIT emphasized that these advertisements have been misconstrued by some members of the public.
The statement explained that the advertisements were not invitations for the sale of any hotel assets, nor were they seeking investors or buyers. Instead, they were intended to invite qualified consulting firms to provide professional advisory services for Golden Beach Hotels Limited, which operates La Palm Royal Beach Resort, Elmina Beach Resort, and Busua Beach Resort.
The Trust elaborated that the consultants would conduct an independent evaluation of the company's operations and performance, recommend practical turnaround and operational improvement strategies, and develop a comprehensive five-year business plan. SSNIT clarified that this engagement is a business improvement and strategic planning exercise aimed at enhancing operational performance and preserving value, not a divestment process.
Further emphasizing the importance of its investments, SSNIT highlighted Labadi Beach Hotel as a flagship hospitality asset within its portfolio. The Trust noted that Labadi Beach Hotel continues to perform strongly and remains a strategic investment, with active support for its expansion and growth to improve its long-term value and contribution to the pension scheme.
In its commitment to prudent investment management, SSNIT assured that it remains fully committed to safeguarding contributors' funds. All decisions regarding its hospitality investments are guided by sound investment principles, rigorous performance evaluation, operational sustainability, and the objective of creating long-term value for contributors and pensioners.
SSNIT urged the public to disregard false claims regarding the alleged sale of its hotels, reassuring pensioners, contributors, and the public of its commitment to managing the Trust's affairs prudently for the sustainability of the Pension Scheme.
