Sissala West Health Directorate Receives Over GHS700,000 Worth Medical Equipment

Sissala west: Mr Mohammed Adams Sukparu, the Member of Parliament for Sissala West Constituency, has donated medical equipment valued at over GHS700,000.00 to the Sissala West District Health Directorate to improve healthcare service delivery across the district.

According to Ghana News Agency, the donation is part of the MP's commitment to strengthening healthcare services and addressing the challenge of inadequate essential medical equipment in health facilities in the district. The items included hospital beds, delivery and maternity equipment, essential medical supplies, and five Apsonic motorcycles designated for the Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds in Gumo, Kaar, Silbelle, Wiiro, and Kandia communities.

The motorcycles are intended to facilitate healthcare outreach programs and improve transportation services for health workers. Mr Benin Yakubu, the Sissala West District CHPS Coordinator, who received the items at Gwollu on behalf of the District Health Director, expressed gratitude to the MP for the donation and his continuous support to the district's health sector. He noted that last year the MP supported the Directorate with health consumables, and the donation aligns with the government's Primary Health Policy, which requires such equipment for successful implementation.

During the presentation, Mr Sukparu, who also serves as the Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Technology and Innovation, stated that the support aims to enhance healthcare delivery and ensure residents have access to quality medical services. As part of his ongoing support to the health sector, the MP also pledged to provide a pickup vehicle for the medical doctor at the Hospital in Gwollu to improve mobility, healthcare operations, and service delivery.

In a related development, Mr Sukparu inspected ongoing road construction works in the district under the government's flagship 'Big Push' project. They included the Tumu-Gwollu-Fielmua road, which is undergoing major rehabilitation. During a visit to the project site, the Ghana News Agency observed that tree clearing along a significant stretch of both sides of the road from Tumu to Gwollu had been completed.

According to the MP, the project was initially planned as a 15-kilometer road construction initiative. He mentioned that through his engagements and negotiations with the appropriate stakeholders, the scope of the project has been expanded in the first phase, with the remaining sections expected to be completed under a second phase. Mr Sukparu reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the government to ensure that the Sissala West District receives its fair share of resources for development, particularly in healthcare, road infrastructure, and social services.
