Accra:Sissala West The Sissala West District Assembly has inaugurated three new health facilities in the district, aiming to enhance healthcare access for local communities. These projects, located in Kusali, Bouti, and Wuljua, were executed through the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) to address existing health service challenges.
According to Ghana News Agency, the commissioning of these facilities is part of the district's efforts to ensure better access to essential health services. Mr. Fuseini Abudu Gbene, the District Chief Executive, highlighted that the initiative was also in response to community requests made during the 2024 election campaign for improved healthcare infrastructure.
The Kusali Health Centre, described as the Assembly's largest health sector investment, cost an estimated GHS1.6 million. It includes both a standard health facility and accommodation for health personnel, designed to create a conducive work environment while serving the community's healthcare needs.
Mr. Mohammed Adams Sukparu, MP for the Sissala West Constituency, urged the Assembly to connect the Kusali facility to the national grid and ensure a reliable water supply. He assured the community of the NDC government's dedication to improving living conditions.
At Bouti, a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound was commissioned, built with funds from the MP's share of the DACF. The Assembly committed to equipping the facility and connecting it to the national grid, while the MP initiated efforts to install a borehole.
The Wuljua health centre, a legacy project from the Northern Development Authority, was also completed and commissioned after being abandoned. Opinion leaders had previously appealed to the NDC during the election campaign to finish the project if they were elected.
Community members in all three areas expressed their gratitude for the new facilities, which are expected to significantly improve healthcare delivery.
