Accra: Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, has paid tribute to Nigerian stars Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid for their influence and contributions to the growth of African music. Speaking in an interview with Adesope Olajide on the New Afrobeats Podcast, Shatta Wale reflected on his decision to travel to the United Kingdom on a private jet ahead of his upcoming ShattaFest event.
According to Ghana Web, Shatta Wale’s decision was partly inspired by the lifestyle and achievements of some Nigerian artistes, whom he believes have elevated the standards of success, branding, and showmanship within the African music industry. Shatta Wale also jokingly called on Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid to slow down with the way they showcase luxury on social media, adding that Ghanaian artistes are gradually learning and adapting to the business side of entertainment.
Shatta Wale expressed his admiration by stating, “I’m trying to be myself. I think life is treating me well. We learned that from our Nigerian brothers, you know. They’re killing us. They’re worrying us. Please, Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid, slow down for us; we are now coming. I love them though.”
Shatta Wale’s remarks have since generated reactions online, with some fans praising his openness in acknowledging the influence Nigerian artistes have had on the African entertainment industry.
