Kasoa: Colombian pop star Shakira has unveiled her official song for the 2026 World Cup. The 49-year-old artist, known for hits such as 'Whenever, Wherever' and 'Hips Don't Lie', introduced 'Dai Dai' on Thursday. This new anthem is set for the upcoming tournament hosted by the US, Mexico, and Canada.
According to Ghana Web, Shakira shared a one-minute video on Instagram from Brazil's Maracana stadium, giving fans a sneak peek of the track, which is scheduled for release on 14 May. The song also features Nigerian singer Burna Boy. This marks Shakira's second official World Cup anthem following the success of 'Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)' for the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
Shakira's involvement with World Cup music extends beyond anthems. She also performed the second theme song for the 2014 tournament with 'La La La (Brazil 2014)', showcased at the closing ceremony in Rio de Janeiro. Furthermore, she delivered a memorable performance of 'Hips Don't Lie' at the 2006 closing ceremony in Germany.
As the 2026 World Cup approaches, Shakira's home country, Colombia, will be competing in the 48-team tournament, which runs from 11 June to 19 July.
