Senior Lecturer’s Death in Hotel Room Under Investigation

Ekpoma:A senior lecturer from Ambrose Alli University, Matthew Uwuigbe, was found dead in a hotel room in the Mosco area of Ekpoma, Edo State, after an encounter with a 21-year-old woman.

According to Ghana Web, the police in Edo State are investigating the incident and have detained three individuals, including the hotel owner, manager, and the woman involved, identified as Angela Jacob. The police received a report that Uwuigbe had checked into the hotel and later sent Ms. Jacob to buy water. Upon her return, she found him deceased.

The police have not yet revealed the cause of Uwuigbe's death and are conducting an autopsy. The university confirmed that Uwuigbe was an employee but emphasized that the events took place off-campus and the woman was not a student of the institution.

This incident is part of a series of similar occurrences where individuals have died suddenly in hotels. In a separate case in July 2026, police in Jigawa State arrested a woman after a man's sudden death in a hotel, with a suspected sexual enhancement supplement found nearby.
