Accra: The Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations of Ghana, Samuel Nartey George, has responded to the recent commotion during his appearance before the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament. The session, held on Monday, May 18, 2026, saw George engage in heated exchanges with opposition legislators Akwasi Konadu and Abena Osei-Asare.
According to Ghana Web, Sam George emphasized that these exchanges would not harm his relationships with the two New Patriotic Party legislators. He described Konadu and Osei-Asare as friends and noted that their spirited discussions were a regular aspect of their interactions. George stated, "The fact that we are friends does not negate the fact that the work has to be done."
The minister, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, acknowledged that his colleagues were scrutinizing him with the same intensity he had applied to their party members when they were in power. He remarked, "I've been someone who has toughly questioned people, and I know that my colleagues are only returning the favour for what I did to NPP ministers."
George further explained his approach to the committee's questioning, asserting his readiness to tackle any inquiries posed to him. He emphasized the importance of dialogue and mutual respect during such proceedings, mentioning, "You can ask me any question, but you just need to give me the audience as well to respond."
Despite the altercations, George reiterated that his friendship with Konadu and Osei-Asare remained intact. He praised their diligence in their roles as Members of Parliament and expressed no ill feelings towards them. He concluded, "I'm going to join them for lunch," highlighting the continued camaraderie among the MPs.
