Accra: The Roc Nation Sports International (RNSI) has announced the launch of its first youth football tournament in Africa, unveiling the inaugural Roc Cup to be held in Accra from February 23-28, 2026. The competition, set for the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, marks a key step in the agency's recent expansion into the African football market. According to Ghana News Agency, a total of 10 elite youth teams from Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria, Côte d'Ivoire, and Guinea will compete in a round-robin format. Grant Veitch, Director of African Football Recruitment at RSNI, stated that the tournament underscored the company's long-term ambitions on the continent. Veitch emphasized that the Roc Cup is more than just a tournament, representing a declaration of their commitment to African football. After signing several teenage talents last year, they are solidifying their investment by hosting this event. The RNSI mentioned that the initiative aims to boost local football development, strengthen community engageme nt, and create potential pathways for young players to European clubs. International and African scouts will attend the week-long competition. Participating teams include Benab FC, Zilina Africa, Fadama Field Masters, and Semper Fi from Ghana; Tripple 44 FC and Sporting Lagos from Nigeria; Empire FC and Racing Club d'Abidjan from Côte d'Ivoire; SOAR Academy from Guinea; and Kadji Sports Academy from Cameroon. All matches will be free to attend at the 10,000-seat venue, a move organizers say is designed to draw families, students, and young footballers. Local volunteers, vendors, and small businesses are expected to participate around the event.
