Right Rev Dr Dogbe Urges Ghanaians to Vote Responsibly in Upcoming Elections.

Winneba: Right Reverend Dr Hilliard Dela Dogbe, Presiding Prelate of the A.M.E. Zion Church, Western-West Africa Episcopal District, has called upon Ghanaians to exercise their voting rights responsibly and prioritize the welfare of all citizens, regardless of political affiliation. Addressing participants at the Church's second consultative forum in Winneba, Central Region, Dr. Dogbe emphasized the importance of voting according to one's conscience and avoiding the influence of monetary inducements. According to Ghana News Agency, the forum convened over 600 attendees, including 400 preachers and approximately 120 youth and young adult leaders. It also featured key stakeholder institutions such as the National Commission for Civic Education, the Electoral Commission, the Police, and political parties. Discussions centered on the Church's financial health, plans for a Retreat and Conference Center in Edumfa, Cape Coast, and integrating youth into decision-making processes. Dr. Dogbe highlighted the Church's mission to foster peace and unity, drawing inspiration from John Wesley, the founder of Methodism. He quoted Wesley's 1774 message to the British, urging voters to choose candidates based on merit, avoid maligning opponents, and maintain goodwill towards those with differing views. Emphasizing the significance of the upcoming elections, Dr. Dogbe urged Ghanaians to approach them not as life-and-death situations but as opportunities to select leaders capable of steering the nation toward prosperity. He encouraged voters to listen, discern, pray, and vote without expectation of financial rewards. In closing, he appealed for moderation in political discourse and stressed the importance of treating others with respect and sowing seeds of peace. A speech delivered on behalf of Mrs. Jean Mensah, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, affirmed the Commission's dedication to conducting credible and transparent elections in 2024, bolstered by the prayers and support of the nation.
