According to Ghana Web, she travelled to Iraq after securing a job through an agency, but the reality she encountered was far different from what she had expected as the working conditions were poor. The woman explained how she was misled by a travel agent about the job and conditions, leading her to end the contract prematurely.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media on August 17, 2026, she said the working conditions were extremely harsh, and whenever she complained about her situation, she was allegedly assaulted. 'The job is very difficult. I was assaulted by two men on the floor whenever I complained about the poor working condition,' she recalled.

The woman also claimed that attempts to seek help from the Ghanaian agent who secured the job for her were unsuccessful. 'I went to Iraq. If you want to travel, use the right route. If you complain about the harsh working conditions, the agency that secured the job for you will even lash you,' she recounted.

She further alleged that she was assaulted by two men whenever she complained about the poor working conditions. She said the difficult circumstances extended beyond the workplace, alleging that she struggled to even access adequate food and comfortable accommodation during her stay in the country. 'It was a painful ordeal. Eating and even getting a comfortable place to sleep was difficult, you eat once a day.

'If you seek the help of the agent, he will ignore you. My family paid a huge sum of money, close to GHS200 million, to secure my release,' she recounted. She urged prospective travellers to be cautious and use legitimate channels when seeking employment opportunities outside Ghana.
