Remove ‘unpopular’ Wontumi from forefront of your campaign – Ejisu NPP PC told

Andy Nana Owusu, a social analyst, has advised lawyer Kwabena Boateng, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Ejisu constituency, to reconsider the involvement of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, alias Chairman Wontumi, in his campaigns.

According to him, his advice comes amidst observations that Wontumi, the NPP regional chairman, has lost significant popularity and influence among the electorate.

He cautioned that Wontumi’s role in the campaign could potentially backfire, causing disaffection among voters rather than garnering support.

“Kwabena Boateng, even though he cannot exclude his regional chairman from his campaign, I would suggest he takes a step back, at least for now.

‘He should be behind and not at the forefront because the love that the people used to have for him is no more.

‘Even before his (Wontumi) elections, the love wasn’t there, so during the elections, he was smart to have gone to the hinterlands for support else he would have lost abysmally,’ he said on a panel discus
sion on Oyerepa TV on April, 24, 2024.

Owusu emphasized the importance of maintaining public sentiment and suggested that Wontumi’s involvement in the forefront of the campaign could prove detrimental to their electoral prospects.

“He needs to assist because of his position as the regional chairman but allowing him to take the lead at this juncture may cause disaffection,’ he added.
