Sanaa:The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament (PAC) has disclosed that 72 police stations and posts across the country owe the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) more than GHS300,000 in unpaid water bills.
According to Ghana Web, The Committee has instructed the management of CWSA to engage with the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to resolve the outstanding debts. PAC Chairperson Abena Osei-Asare emphasized the importance of addressing the issue directly with the leadership of the Ghana Police Service to facilitate the recovery of funds.
Abena Osei-Asare expressed confidence that the IGP would be responsive if approached, suggesting that the IGP might readily settle the GHS300,000 bill once informed of the situation. The debt pertains to water services rendered to the police stations and posts in question.
The PAC highlighted that recovering the owed amount is crucial for improving the financial situation of the CWSA and preventing similar arrears from accumulating in the future.
