PRESIDENT SUSPENDS GHANA’S DEPUTY SPORTS MINISTER, TOP SPORTS OFFICIAL
ACCRA– President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of Ghana has suspended Pius Enam Hadzide as Deputy Sports Minister with immediate effect.
The President on Thursday also also suspended Robert Sarfo Mensah, the acting Director-General of the National Sports Authority.
A statement issued by the Office of the President at Jubilee House and signed by Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the Presidency, said the President took the decision following preliminary investigations conducted into the circumstances surrounding the arrest and deportation of 60 Ghanaians who attempted to enter Australia under false circumstance in the on-going 21st Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast in Queensland.
The statement said Ben Nunoo Mensah, the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, the Board Chairman of the National Sports Authority, Kwadwo Baah Agyeman, and the Chef-de-Maison for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Mr Mohammed Sahnoon, have also been recalled from the Games to assist in investigations currently being undertaken by the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service.
